Reasons for energy meter flashover?

Presently in my utility two of the LT energy meters are flashed out and i dont know the reasons for energy meter flash over. If someone knows about the same please help me?

Is there any possibility that the CT secondary circuits attached to the meter have been disturbed / open circuited at the meter location?

If secondary circuit is disturbed, examine the type of lugs used in termination and change to a ring type.

Apart from CT secondary open at the meter terminals there can also be high amps flowing through the energy meter due to some faults in the system.Any short circuit in the system will lead to high current in the CT primary and that may be reflected at the CT secondary also unless the CT saturates. What is the ISF of the CT you are using

I addition to the above comments, be certain that the CT has been properly selected for the voltage and current rating of the power circuit.

I think ,the best way to analyze the reason is by tracing the source circuit.

There have been documented cases of seveer injury or death resulting from a person failing to check the measuring instrument to be sure it is rated for the system current and voltage levels. If the voltage range is 0 to 600 volts and one uses it on a 15 kv system, the meter will fail and possible injury can occur.

The National Electric Safety Code , ANSI C2, has had sections added that require the use of properly rated equipment and protective clothing when working on energized equipment.

the question here what type of energy meter you have digital/ induction.
because we hade a case of secondary open circuit of 33KV 1200A where nothing happened to the transducer or meter.
I am a maintenance engineer .
check the heath condition of your source's circuit.
flash over for 110 v and 5A ????
even the high voltage of the CT secondary would produce a small Amp not causing flashover.
