Variable frequency power drive simulator tester

Friends, I am looking for a variable frequency power drive simulator tester for AC induction motors 10-60Hz upto 1 kV. Dynamic motor test 380-440 VAC. Can anyone recommend any? Thanks for your help.

Hi Axel,

I'm not sure I understand. Are you looking for simulation software, or for a hardware test system?

If it is a variable frequency drive you want. I think 1kV VFDs are used in the American Mining industry. If you select one that has the current capacity to handle the range of loads you will test. Most inverters can be programmed to reach maximum Hz at 380 or 460V.
Without complete details of what you intend to use the VFD for and all of the variables, it is hard to recommend anything.

Hi Neil,

my customer is looking for both, for a hardware test system as well as for simulation software.
I have no idea where to look for such equipment. Can you please help?

Sorry, 380-440 V or up to 1kV? Is it 1kW?

I think you won't find simulation tools for commercial drives, but as far as the drive is controlled by a scalar (V/f) algorithm (without speed feedback), you can model it with common tools like Simulink (or PLECS standalone, which offers 30-days trial and demo mode for free). It depends on what the customer needs...

If you want a power supply so that you can run either 380V 50Hz or 460V 60Hz motors for testing on your industrial machinery. All you need is an inverter rated for 460V 60Hz input and it will provide both outputs. These are available from Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Delta, Gozuk, Siemens, ABB, Hitachi, Fuji etc. If you need up to 1000V let me know.

I am grateful for your comments Sandro and Ron,
I will check it out and I will review with my customer.

Sandro, the customer mostly needs to test 380 - 440 Volt motors but the test equipment should be capable to test up to 1kV according to his enquiry.
Thank you.
